Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20, NIV

For those of us who have received salvation by inviting Jesus into our hearts, believing that He is indeed the Messiah, we carry Good News within us wherever we go! We carry the Good News of Jesus Christ as the blameless Savior whose brutal and gruesome death on the cross for my and your sins, and His resurrection, was the perfect sacrifice to make propitiations for our sins that through Jesus we could have a right standing, reconciled relationship with a holy God. The Great Commission as referenced above in Matthew 28:18-20, is the Believer’s mandate given by Jesus, authorizing His followers to go out and share this Good News with others who may not yet know Him.

Motivated by our love for God and others, we established this ministry of Gathered in His Name to intercede for those seeking salvation, deliverance, healing, peace, and more. Our ministry is rooted in obedience to God’s command to pray (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). It is what has led us to extend ourselves through prayer in our greater Washington, D.C. area and will continue to.

For our prayer outreach on May 2, 2026, we reached the nations right here in D.C., by engaging people during the opening week of the annual Passport DC Embassy Tour. Per the website, “Passport DC is an annual festival that commemorates International Cultural Awareness Month in the District of Columbia. Passport DC celebrates Washington, DC’s thriving international community with more than 75 international events and activities.” Although it was a chilly spring morning, it was a prime opportunity to warmly engage the throngs of people who were visiting the more than 60 embassies and enjoying the various food and festivities offered by respective countries. For this outreach, we delightfully welcomed Andrea’s Uncle Art and his friend Troy who were visiting from Post Falls, Idaho (originally from Wisconsin). Art and Troy have regularly evangelized in their community for many years, sharing about Jesus’ love for all. We also welcomed Crystal, who newly joined our group and had expressed some nervousness about evangelizing though she availed herself to be used by the Lord!

We gathered in Dupont Circle in NW DC where some of the festivities were kicking off that morning. Before setting out, we read scriptures from Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20, and John 1:12-13. These three scriptures speak to those in Christ Jesus being empowered by the Holy Spirit as His witnesses to the world (to the ends of the earth as told in Acts 1:8) to testify to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, reaching those near and far, that they would know that through Jesus, they have been given the right to become children of God (John 1:12-13), heirs of God, destined to inherit the Kingdom of God. Through this new and true freedom offered in relationship with Christ Jesus, they will no longer be spiritual slaves to sin or this world but would bear the spiritual DNA of God.

Embassy of Morocco

Troy greeting man from Chad who was excited that Troy spoke his language! The man also asked our prayers against violence and atrocities being committed in Chad by the government.

We visited several embassies and engaged people outside of those embassies which included: Chile (we went inside, prayed for God to bring His peace to their divided country caused by political division), Belize, Turkish Embassy, Algeria, Venezuela (we prayed for godly leadership and to repair its broken foundations which are in disrepair), Haiti, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Morocco and Djibouti. An amazing opportunity to step foot into other nations to intercede in prayer for them while simultaneously positioned in Washington, D.C.! We brought God’s Kingdom to these nations!

Holy Spirit Leading through Us

Holy Spirit truly moved! Troy has an amazing gift to learn and speak more than 100 languages!! This gifting is an excellent evangelism tool Troy uses to engage people of different ethnicities to build rapport and share with them about Jesus. He is well received by those who hear their native language and/or tribe dialect spoken by him!

Holy Spirit also worked through Crystal as she yielded to and was obedient to the Holy Spirit’s promptings, which usually came as a word or words of instruction directing her and us to a person to pray for or the location to go to in which there were people He wanted us to pray for. Crystal, who recently rededicated her life and walk to the Lord and was baptized this past fall, perhaps underestimated how the Lord might use her being a “newbie” in Christ. However, He was faithful to generously work through her as He has with those of us who have journeyed with the Lord for several years or decades. I reminded her of this parable of vineyard workers from Matthew 20:1-16, where those who had worked fewer hours than those who had been laboring all day in the vineyard were still paid a full day’s wages. She expressed that she was “overwhelmed” (in a humbling and grateful way) that the Holy Spirit would move through her so generously.

We prayed for several people, nations and situations that day, entrusting the outcomes to the Lord. Our time together extended beyond our usual two hours, each of us sensing the Lord desiring for us to make ourselves available for however He was leading. Prayerfully, people experienced the love of Jesus though us.
